Our next spotlight beams down on our Marketing Manager, Germaine Chang, who also moonlights as our Accounting Assistant. She’s Umbrella Consulting’s brand ambassador and visual storyteller. With a customer-centric mindset and business-focused approach, Germaine aims to create an experience that’s fresh, memorable and authentic.
If you weren't in marketing, what job would you want to do?
Something where I can work with my hands to create - Woodworker, Ceramic Artist or some sort of Plant Stylist / Landscaper
What was your very first job?
Data entry and sorting mail for a medical / dental courier (hey, I may have handled a plaster cast of your teeth!)
Do you have a hidden talent?
I can fall asleep just about anywhere 😴
What new skill or hobby did you pick up during the pandemic lockdown?
Learned to cut my son's hair = money in my pocket
What do you wish you knew more about?
Automotive mechanics - I hate relying on someone to change my oil and swap my tires.🚗
Building IKEA furniture - torture or enjoyable?! Definitely enjoyable. Just bring me the box and step aside.
If you could go back in time, which class in high school do you wish you paid more attention in? Social Studies - particularly history and political science
What's the most memorable place you've travelled to?
Not my favourite travel experience but ultimately memorable - I once went ice fishing and skidooing on a frozen lake in Manitoba. It was -20C with a wind chill (I hate being cold). 🥶🎣
What's your best childhood memory?
Going camping with my dad and brother. I always got to sit with my dad in the driver's seat and steer the truck while we drove around looking for an empty site. ⛺
Do you have an irrational fear?
Aging... I know, it's inevitable. 👵🏻
What's your ideal way to start the day? Getting up at the same time everyday and having a hot coffee (emphasis on hot)
What's the best part about working from home?
Working in complete silence. My 6 year old talks A LOT so silence is not taken for granted in this house. 🙊
What's your favourite part of the ERP implementation process?
While I'm not directly involved with this process, I'm sure getting the green light for go-live is super exciting for everyone!
What is something you enjoy about working with the Umbrella Consulting team?
Love that everyone is so down to earth and easy to get along with. So much respect for how hard this team works. 🙌🏼
